A love letter to early industrial music and space ambient – A little gem that is well worth your time.
“The Formless” is a hypnotising and interesting album.
It sounds like a combination of Coil’s most ambient albums and space ambient. The industrial sound is always there, but sometimes its subtle, while at other times it comes out at the front.
There is also a lot of variation throughout the album, we have the gorgeous yet mysterious opener “limitless now” which sounds most of all like a space ambient track. While other tracks like for example “golden rose” and “close to the face” combines industrial textures and ambient techno.
A personal favourite, for me, was the track “blue twilight” – with its very hypnotising synths and drone.
In my head I get the image of something alien coming towards me.
The album consistently surprises you with new ideas and I find myself enjoying each track. The production sounds great, especially the beats and synths sounds punchy and well mixed.
All in all it feels like a love letter to early industrial music and space ambient, a little gem that is well worth your time.
