Passed Recordings is an international collective founded in 2021 of artists with a shared passion for music of all kinds and to deliver the absolute best atmospheric, ambient, experimental, and electronic music.
Our label is a bastion of exceptionally talented artists and a wonderfully supportive community that empowers and encourages us to keep improving and releasing, while staying true to ourselves.
We believe that through our music and our collective we can truly do good — we aim to:
- Make spectacles of established and up-and-coming artists with our shows (The Passed Radio Show and Synaesthesia Sunday) and other events such as screenings;
- Release compilations to raise money for good causes and signal boost the music of others; and
- Continue to meet our own standards of excellence in atmospheric music and art in any form (regardless of genre).
A Brief History of Passed Recordings
Ten friends bought together by the internet and a love of artists such as Sunn o))), Tim Hecker, William Basinski, Brian Eno — Passed Recordings burst onto the scene almost fully realised in 2022 with our compilation _scapes ( Bandcamp ). After deciding we weren’t satisfied with the options available to us from other labels and inspired by one another’s enthusiasm, creativity & vision we bought to life a collective that was by artists, for artists. We wanted to create somewhere that an artists hard work would continue to fully belong to them, and where exceptional music could be released regardless of its adherence to current trends or forecasts of saleability.
It’s been both humbling and validating to see the response to our work:
- Raising hundreds of dollars for charity;
- Featuring on both grassroots shows as well as established institutions such as BBC radio; and
- Our growing community on Discord.
